Youth Ministry Overview

Mission

To help kids/students connect into a growing community of multiplying Christ-followers. We accomplish this through helping kids live the Way of Christ:

1. Love God (Attend)

We teach kids who God is and what it looks like to live in a loving relationship with him.

Mark 12:30 Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.

2. Build Character (Grow)

Through relationally based programs and events like dedications and baptisms we partner with parents and assist kids in taking steps of spiritual growth.

John 15:4 Remain in me, and I will remain in you.

3. Love People (Connect)

Through small groups and intentional organization, kids will experience consistent community with peers and adult leaders who serve as spiritual leaders.

John 13:34 Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.

4. Be the Body (Serve)

We help kids realize that they are part of a collective body bigger than themselves and that through God’s power they can make a significant difference in the world for Christ.

Matthew 28:19-20 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.

5. Lead (Multiply)

As kids grow in their faith, we help them see that they can influence others for Christ.

2 Timothy 2:2 You have heard me teach things that have been confirmed by many reliable witnesses. Now teach these truths to other trustworthy people who will be able to pass them on to others.

Quest Church is a place wherekids can be kids!

We provide asafe, loving environment where a child's faith is nurtured and encouraged

We believe...

  1. Children are a gift from God and should be handled with love and care.

  2. Children are important in the kingdom of God and that Christ died to redeem children from their sin.

  3. Christ has called children to follow him and children can be equipped to serve Christ and others.

  4. Children deserve a safe, positive, nurturing and age appropriate learning environment that is free of fear, pressure to "grow up", or prejudice.

  5. That ministry is not just "to" children but "with" children. We learn from children as we teach them.

  6. That God has appointed parents as their children'sprimary religious instructors and the church's role is to assist in the cooperative effort of that  task.

  7. Successful ministry is the shared responsibility of children, ministry staff & volunteers, parents and the church body.

  8. Positive self-worth promotes both personal growth and growth in a relationship with God.

  9. Ministry should be creative, innovative and in touch with the children and families of our community.

  10. Effective teachers are an important component of our ministry.

  11. We depend on God for the spiritual gifts he has given us, realizing that it is his ministry and not ours.

  12. Relational ministry is best served with adults who serve as positive role models to the child.

 Ministry Goals...

  1. To provide a safe, secure, loving environment for children to participate in and where parents feel comfortable leaving their child.

  2. To help children feel a warm sense of belonging to their church family and to insure each child feels welcomed and wanted.

  3. For each child to know that God is real and that a personal relationship with Him gives meaning to life.

  4. To aid each child in accepting Jesus Christ as savior and developing a dynamic relationship with him.

  5. To help each child develop a lifestyle that is built on his/her relationship with Jesus Christ.

  6. To help each child understand that God's Word (the Bible) is relevant and that growth in Bible knowledge results in positive changes in attitudes, action and life-style.

  7. To help the child grow in his/her relationships with other believers and with his/her non-churched friends.

  8. To provide children the opportunity and direction to participate in ministry.

  9. To support the family in their responsibility for the spiritual nurture and growth of their child.

  10. To provide Godly teachers who are adequately trained to serve as positive role models while they minister with children.

Aspects of Our Youth Ministry

  • Parents are included. Parents are given opportunities to join in the fun through teaching, chaperoning, and hosting a youth hangout. Parents are kept informed on what we’re doing through a weekly email newsletter. Any youth or parent who would like to be added to the Quest Youth Newsletter should send an email to questcc.org@gmail.com.

  • We are a hands on ministry. Our youth are encouraged to be servants as they follow Christ. We try to give them various opportunities to serve within and beyond our church walls. Some examples are: a puppet ministry, drama/skits, visits to retirement homes, church support projects, home repair projects, serving alongside non-profits in our community, leadership in Vacation Bible School, team members with Upward Basketball and Cheerleading, and more.  We do this mainly on Friday nights, special events, and weekdays in the summer.

  • Prayer and accountability are especially valuable. A subgroup within our Youth Ministry is the Big Brother/Big Sister Team. In this group, each youth has their own prayer partner who is an leader within our church. This is a partnership and friendship where both youth and adult commit to pray for each other continually in their daily prayer life.

  • The Bible is obviously our ROCK. None of our youth leaders assumes to have all the answers to life, but we confidently trust that the Bible is sufficient for meeting our every need. The Bible is almost always used in all of our gatherings. We study it, discuss it, and use it often.  Students are encouraged to bring theirs with them to church.
