Preschool Policies

Safety
Security is one of our top priorities in Quest Kids. All of our volunteers complete a background check before they are allowed in a classroom. For this reason, parents may not stay with their children in Quest Kids.

Children must be walked to their small group door, not dropped off in the hallway. To check a child out, a parent must show the matching tag they received at check-in. For safety reasons no one under 16 will be allowed to check a child out of his/her group.

Food
Children three years of age and under may be offered Cheerios as a snack. Bottles and sippy cups may be brought but for the safety of all children, we cannot spoon feed.

For children three to five years old, Goldfish crackers or Cheerios may be offered as a snack.

Occassionally, a special snack will be offered that correlates with the Basic Truth taught for the day. If so, those items will be posted outside the room door. Parents should notify the group leaders of any allergies or special concerns.

KIX is always offered as a gluten/dairy free option.

For security, parents and nursing mothers are not permitted to be in the rooms, but we offer a private room for those who wish to make use of it.

We do not allow outside food or drink allowed in rooms without pre-approval from the Quest Kids Pastor. Unfortunately, we can not allow birthday snacks, etc. on a child’s birthday.

Personal Items
Because our group times are so intentional, please do not allow children to bring toys, games, phones or tablets. We can not be responsible for lost or misplaced items.

Health

We are a well-child ministry with a goal of providing a safe and healthy place for children. We regularly disinfect toys and furniture. With that in mind, we are unable to accept children who are ill. In order to keep a safe and healthy environment for all children, we ask a child does not attend if he/she has had any of the following symptoms within the past 24 hours, Please keep your child home. Additionally, if a child displays any of these symptoms while in Quest Kids, we will request the parent pick him/her up.

  • Diarrhea, illness, food, or medication induced

  • Vomiting

  • Fever (100 or above)

  • Undiagnosed rash

  • Open sores

  • Runny nose (if discolored)

  • Discharge in or around the eyes

  • Open cold sore

  • Virus (until past the contagious phase)

  • Cold, sore throat, earache

  • Unidentified rash, or rash not treated within last 24 hours

  • Chicken pox (should not attend for 7 days after treatment begun)

  • Head lice (until treated by physician)

  • Strep throat (until treated by physician and/or medicated for 24 hours)

  • Ear infection (until treated by physician)

  • Conjunctivitis (“pink-eye”) until medicated for 24 hours

In the event your child displays these symptoms or becomes ill, we will notify you and ask for you to remove your child as promptly as possible to avoid exposure to the other children.

We ask that parents notify us if a child has been diagnosed with head lice, chicken pox, conjunctivitis, strep throat, or other contagious diagnoses so other parents may be on the lookout for symptoms in their own children. No names will be used in such notifications to other parents.

Snacks are a part of our time together. Occasionally, we may have a snack that enhances the truth we are learning about God. If so, it will be posted on the outside of the room. Please inform the leaders of any allergies you are aware of.
