Often when a loved one dies, we believe we have to keep it together, to be strong for mom, dad, or the kids. Other times, the grief is so overwhelming we wonder if we’ll ever find our way out.
Allowing ourselves to grieve is the first step to experiencing comfort after a deep loss. When we grieve, we admit we need help and we open ourselves up to experiencing God’s presence in the pain. Even Jesus expressed deep sorrow over the death of His friend Lazarus (John 11:35).
What stops us from getting lost in our grief is the hope that we will be reunited in heaven and the understanding that God can bring us through even the deepest pain.
