VIRTUAL WORSHIP INSTRUCTIONS
Hi Quest Family! During the COVID-19 pandemic, we’ll be using Zoom, an online video-conferencing platform, as a creative way to still “gather” to connect, encourage, and grow in faith with one another.
Here is the page where we’ll post a weekly schedule of online groups, and below is a short guide to using Zoom.
Join via smartphones, tablets, and computers. To maximize the quality of the call, we recommend that you close other browsers or applications during the Zoom call.
TO JOIN A ZOOM MEETING:
On a tablet or smartphone:
1. Download Zoom app on phone.
2. During the scheduled meeting time, click “Join.”
3. Type in Quest's meeting ID: XXX XXX XXXX
On computer: (preferable for small groups, because it gives you the ability to view everyone on screen)
1. During the scheduled meeting time, visit zoom.us
2. Click “Join Meeting”
3. Type in QC's meeting ID: XXX XXX XXXX
Dial from mobile or landline
+X XXX XXX XXXX'
Meeting ID: XXX XXX XXX
If you plan to join via telephone, dial *6 after worship to unmute your connection and participate in the breakout sessions.
Please Note: If you are calling in on a telephone, long distance charges may apply.
If you have a computer, tablet, or smart phone, you can link in for the service for free. Information to join the meeting (aka worship) is found in the red box below and here. If you don't have a computer or internet, you can listen through your phone. The phone number to connect you to the broadcast is also listed below.
A reminder will be emailed to all on Sunday morning, including the link information. You can join the meeting by following the prompts and entering the meeting number.
BEST PRACTICES DURING A GROUP:
To join the Meeting for Worship, at 11:45 a.m. on Sunday mornings quiet your surroundings and yourself and enter the Zoom meeting as you would be entering the Meeting for Worship at the meetinghouse – quietly.
Please make sure your computer or cell phone camera is turned on because it’s really nice to see each other’s faces in this time of isolation.
Once you’ve “entered” you’ll see the faces and names of the others who are present.
Please mute yourself by clicking the button on the bottom left of the screen, It is best to “Mute” yourself (\when not speaking, to minimize background noise and feedback.
In the top right of your screen, you can choose between “Speaker View” which enlarges whoever is speaking and minimizes the others, or “Gallery View” which shows all group members equally. Choose whichever you prefer. For those using smartphones, “Gallery View” will only let you see 4 people at a time, but you can swipe the screen to the left to see additional group members.
Feel free to utilize the chat function (bottom of the screen) if you don’t have a webcam/audio capacities but would like to contribute.
The Meeting for Worship will close with the moderator thanking us.
We know this is a big change, and it may take some time for all of us to get it right. As a "test run" before Sunday morning, James will hold a practice "meeting" tomorrow evening, Saturday, May 9, at 7 p.m. This will allow you to experience the online format and make sure it works for you.
